The
opening race at Randwick on Wednesday was won by nicely bred Shamardal (USA) filly
Kind Heart, a $160,000 Inglis Easter purchase for Astute Bloodstock from the
draft of Torryburn Stud.
From the last crop of Australian conceived foals by former Darley shuttler Shamardal,
Kind Heart showed the benefit of recent racing when she settled well for Hugh
Bowman from an outside gate and found the line strongly.
She let down with a good turn of foot and kept going to the line to win the
1100 metre maiden by a long neck carrying the familiar colours of well-known
owner Peter Horwitz.
The John Thompson trained filly is entered for the $500,000 Group II Arrowfield
Sprint at Randwick on April 11 and now that she's broken the ice could easily
keep right on improving.
Bred and offered for sale by Torryburn, Kind Heart is the fifth winner from
five to race from Group III winner Natural Woman.
